Steel power – material research for improved energy technology
In order to reach a fossil-free society, energy technology has to change. One way to achieve this is, for example, the fourth generation nuclear power. But for the technology to become reality, material technology research is required.
There is need for a steel that functions inside the reactors. Together, material scientists at The Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden and Sandvik Hallstahammar have come closer to a solution.
Good cooperation between researchers and the Swedish steel industry enables materials to be produced in order to achieve the goal of a better environment. Better steel will provide better energy technology. The energy challenges of the future lie in the hands of today's material researchers.
