Sandvik Materials Technology certified to new International Energy Management Standard

Sandvik Materials Technology in Sandviken, Sweden has successfully achieved certification to the new International Energy Management Standard ISO 50001:2011.

In successfully completing the independent certification process, the company has made significant reductions in its energy consumption.

"What this new standard provides us with is a robust framework for optimizing our energy efficiency throughout the production units," explained Susanne Lindqvist, Process Owner for Energy and Climate at Sandvik Materials Technology.

"It allows us to follow a systematic approach for continual improvement of energy performance, including energy efficiency, energy usage and consumption."

Assessment and certification was carried out by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) and is the culmination of the company's ongoing energy efficiency program designed to reduced energy consumption right across the organization.
