November 6th 2012 marked the replacement of the 1000nd bolt in the R&D cooperation between the Vasa Museum and Sandvik, aimed at preserving the Swedish national treasure Vasa.

Olle Wijk, Executive Vice President and Head of R&D for Sandvik Materials Technology, also Chairman of Sandvik AB's R&D Board, was appointed visiting professor at Shanghai University on June 6.

Three engineers from Sandvik Materials Technology – Bertil Waldén, Ivan Machacek and Lars Östlund – were awarded the 2012 Wilhelm Haglund Medal in recognition of their pioneering contributions in the development of umbilical tubes in advanced stainless steel.
