Tomorrow's well design – precision control today

Are you designing HP/HT deep water wells? Are the material specs for the control equipment optimized for safe and reliable operations?
As complexity increases, many customers tell us they appreciate getting metallurgical advice early on in the process. Some even wish we’d been there to advise with the blueprint specs during well design. Why? Because new corrosive fluids and high-pressure hydraulics, combined with an aggressive external environment, can impact crucial downhole safety valves or hydraulic production packers.
Industry observers have noted that well pressures and temperatures are rising. Even though high pressure/high temperature (HP/HT) wells are still a relatively small percentage, they place high demands on materials for control and chemical injection lines. But what is “high pressure”? According to a leading oilfield services company, HP/HT wells begin at 150°C (300°F), or 69 Mpa (10,000 psi) and then move upwards.
