Choosing the Right Material for Hydraulic and Instrumentation Systems In Marine Environments – Results From Field Testing
The paper presents field testing comparing various materials for corrosive marine environments to assist industries in selecting the appropriate material. It highlights UNS N08935 as a cost-effective solution, reducing capital costs while maintaining corrosion resistance and extending the lifecycle. Additionally, it discusses the newly developed grade UNS N08935, a super austenitic alloy, which provides a balance between stainless steel and expensive high nickel alloys.

Comparison Of The Life Cycle Cost Of Carbon Steel, Duplex Stainless Steels, Super Austenitic, And Nickel-Based Alloys For Crude Unit Overhead Condensers
A refinery in the U.S. Gulf Coast faced severe corrosion issues with carbon steel tubes in its crude unit overhead condensers, resulting in premature failure within six months. The tubes were subsequently upgraded to super duplex and hyper duplex stainless steel, extending service life to 12 months and two years respectively. Failure analysis revealed under-deposit corrosion, with preferential attack on the ferrite phase. An economical alternative, Sanicro 35 was suggested over nickel alloys 625 and C-276, based on material selection and life-cycle cost analysis.

Evaluation of Crevice Corrosion Resistance of Super Austenitic Sanicro 35® (UNS N08935)
Alloy 35Mo (UNS N08935) is a newly developed super-austenitic alloy designed for use in corrosive environments. It exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in chloride-induced service and finds applications in various industries. The objective of the study is to compare the critical crevice corrosion temperature (CCT) of alloy 35Mo with other alloys (UNS S31254, UNS N08367, UNS N10276) in a potentiostatic test using 1 M NaCl, following ASTM G150 standards.

Corrosion Properties of UNS S83071 in Acid and Caustic Environments
UNS S83071 is a newly developed super duplex stainless steel optimized for general corrosion resistance with a composition of 30Cr-7Ni-3.5Mo-N. New data presented in the paper focuses on general corrosion testing in various acid and caustic environments such as formic acid, nitric acid, phosphoric acid, and sodium hydroxide. Results demonstrate the steel's excellent resistance to both acid and caustic general corrosion, making it suitable for use in corrosive environments within the chemical industry. The data provided can aid in material selection for applications like heat exchangers or equipment in acid or caustic production plants.
